As a designer, I see animal prints as classics- I don't think them as trendy. In my world, animal prints, are considered as stripes, plaids, hounds tooth, or other classic patterns. In a palette of materials, I use them as another introduction to texture. I have to agree that there are some cheap imitations of animal prints that make them look bad, but this happens with any design when it's not well done. Giraffe purses now rock!
